BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Crawfish lovers are getting a post-Easter present with a price drop, according to The Crawfish App.
The average retail price of crawfish went down by 30 cents this weekend, according to Laney King, co-founder of The Crawfish App.
Consumers will pay an average of $4.47 per pound for live crawfish this weekend and $6.69 per pound for boiled crawfish, King said.
This comes one week after consumers paid $6.99 per pound for boiled crawfish and an average of $4.75 per pound for live crawfish.
King said that this year, live crawfish will cost you “almost double what they were in April 2023.”
“Typically, the demand for crawfish drops slightly as Easter boils cease, yet the crawfish supply continues to increase, yielding a drop in price. Last year we were not so lucky and crawfish prices did not drop the week after Easter,” said King.
She said, “The market price of crawfish held for the remainder of the 2023 season, and consumers did not get a single price drop after Easter 2023 wrapped up.”
