Congressman partners with SBA to host workshops for Louisiana crawfish farmers

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Congressman Troy A. Carter Sr. will be partnering with the U.S. Small Business Administration to host workshops and seminars for crawfishers in Louisiana.

“These workshops will provide technical assistance to crawfish producers, boil houses, restaurants, grocery stores, and others who depend upon the crawfish season,” a news release said.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry signed an executive order last week to issue a disaster declaration for the Louisiana crawfish industry as the state is experiencing a crawfish shortage after a statewide drought over the summer.

Several organizations will be in attendance at these seminars including Lender Relations Specialists, Small Business Development Center, Business Opportunity Specialists, Score Counselors, and Women’s Business Resource Center (Urban League), according to a news release.

According to a spokesperson from the Office of Congressman Carter, staff members from his office will attend the three workshops and seminars.

The crawfish producers’ workshops and seminars will be held at the following locations in Louisiana:
