GRETNA, La. (WGNO) — A Gretna woman dodged what could have been a tragedy during Hurricane Ida.

Then she made an interesting discovery while surveying the damage, with ties back to her roots.

“I feel blessed cause I think if the tree had to fall, God took his hand and pushed it forward,” said Stephanie Dieterich, after a huge tree that stood between her and her neighbor Cherie Eues home crashed to the ground – narrowly missing their houses – during the catastrophic storm on Sunday.
