KENNER, La. (WGNO) — Officers with the Kenner Police Department are at the scene of what many believed was a possible shooting at a Walmart on Thursday, May 2.

The KPD reported officers are responding to a “call of a possible shooter” inside the Walmart at 300 West Esplanade.

KPD officials said an initial report shows it’s a possible electrical noise coming from the back area of the store “that sounded like gunfire.”

According to the KPD, “Officers are now actively searching the store for victims or armed suspects.”

At this time, there have been no reports of anyone shot or armed suspect found.

In a recent update, the Kenner Fire Department reported there is not an active shooter, and “The situation is currently under control and being addressed by the fire department.”

They said an electrical issue is causing the popping noise.
