KENNER, La. (WGNO) — Nonprofit organization Special Connections celebrated its 20-year anniversary with a fashion event on Wednesday, April 24.

Representatives said Special Connections is “an adult day program for individuals with special needs to socialize and create.”

“We provide respite for parents who have the responsibility of caring for their adult children with special needs. Our participants are in their 70s and 80s. So, we give them an opportunity to go to a doctor without having to find someone to care for their loved one,” said Special Connections President Susan Stair.

According to organizers, the event was held at the Chateau Golf and Country Club in Kenner.

Attendees cheered on the Special Connections models as they strutted down the runway featuring the latest looks from John’s Tuxedos and Macy’s, the event’s sponsors.
