NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A piglet that was “tossed around like a football” during the Mardi Gras season is getting a new home.

Leaders with the Humane Society of Louisiana said the pig, named Piglet, will be adopted by Louisiana State Representative Lauren Ventrella.

According to the HSL, Piglet will be officially delivered to Ventrella and adopted on the steps of the Louisiana State Capitol after the special legislative session ends.

Piglet was rescued after a man saw three other men throwing what he originally thought was a football, later discovering it was actually a pig.

The man gave Piglet to a friend, who then brought him to the Humane Society.

Piglet was cared for at Metairie Small Animal Hospital and taken into foster care.
