LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left three people dead in Lafourche Parish on Saturday, June 8.
The LSP reported the crash happened on Louisiana Highway 308 near McCloud Drive around 6 a.m.
LSP officials said an initial investigation shows 55-year-old Ethelwaldo Dejesus was driving a Honda Accord south on Louisiana Highway 308 in a right curve while a Honda Pilot was driving north.
The Honda Accord then reportedly crossed the center line and hit the Honda Pilot head-on.
According to the LSP, Dejesus was driving “at a high rate of speed.”
Dejesus and his passenger, identified by the LSP as 30-year-old Braysi Pineda Zuniga, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Honda Pilot, identified by the LSP as 49-year-old Page Abadie, also suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda Pilot suffered critical injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers.
