NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is officially in the books.
Festivalgoers spent their last day on the fairgrounds dancing their hearts out, happy they could spend the day at Jazz Fest.
“Power to the Jazz Fest, baby I’m here,” said Louise Williams.
Williams has been enjoying Jazz Fest all her life. She said she is excited to get her chance to see Earth, Wind & Fire up close in person.
“My son got me a ticket. So, I am out here to just enjoy myself. I almost slept out here last night because I wanted to be first in line on the stage. I thought I was going to be able to touch them, but I can see them,” said Williams.
Some came as far as Seattle for the last day, hearing how the food never disappoints.
“I’m just open to try anything today. I am excited about it all,” said Nikki Harrington.
More and more people hit the dance floor to a variety of different artists. Cory Harrington says that’s what made his family want to come out and experience the culture.
“We kind of came here for the Coral Reefer but we watched some documentaries to get a feel of what we are going to experience, and we are super excited about the amount of in-depth culture and music we are going to hear,” said Cory Harrington.
With thousands of tourists flocking to the fest, business owners like Stuart and Denise McClane say it’s not only good for business but also the city.
“Part of our culture, Jazz fest is part of the New Orleans culture. We enjoy all the people that come from all over the world just to see Jazz Fest, to go to all the different stages and eat all the different foods, the amount of in-depth culture and music we are going to hear,” said Stuart McClane.
