NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has been invited to participate in the Resilience and Equity in the Clean Energy Sector Summit in Detroit, Michigan.

From Sept. 9 to the 11, Black and brown leaders will meet at the National Black and Brown Clean Energy Conference to discuss their visions for a decarbonized future in response to the “massive” clean energy transformation.

The summit will consist of keynote sessions and panel discussions, interactive workshops and breakouts.

Leaders with RECESS24 say the summit was created to “help advance equity for Black and Brown people by creating an on-ramp into the rapidly transitioning clean energy economy, showcasing experts, ideas, technologies and connections to help drive the benefits of participation to those who have been historically excluded.”

Joining Cantrell will be Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Chair of Urban Efficiency Group Darnell Johnson, Founder and Managing Partner of SustainabiliD Kerry Duggan, Co-founder and CEO of ChargerHelp! Kameale Terry, Director of Workforce Programs Interstate Renewable Energy Council Dr. Janell Hills and more.
