NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Southern Food & Beverage Museum is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Museum leaders hosted a news conference with a birthday cake, coffee and champagne on Thursday, June 20, to discuss how the museum is commemorating the milestone.

According to a news release, the museum published its first cookbook and plans to host several special events and exhibitions throughout the year to honor the anniversary.

The cookbook, titled “SoFAB Cook Book: Recipes from the Modern South,” by the museum’s founder Elizabeth Williams and Maddie Hayes includes “recipes particular to each southern state with recipes by chefs who feel the connection of home.” It will also include a foreword written by Dickie Brennan.

The release states some of the special exhibits will include a history of coffee exhibit and a history of tailgating exhibit.

“The Southern Food and Beverage Museum stands as a testament to the delicious heritage of the region, showcasing the flavors and stories that make Southern cuisine so unique and revered. We are excited for the next 20 years of preserving and celebrating the soulful essence of Southern food right here in one of America’s great culinary destinations,” said SoFAB CEO Constance “Connie” Jackson.

There will also be an event to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Oysters Rockefeller and a gala.
