NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A woman was shot while sitting in her carport in the Pontchartrain Park area on Tuesday, May 30.

Officials with the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) said the shooting happened around 5:12 p.m. in the 4800 of Odin Street. A woman, possibly in her 50s, was found suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene.

According to the NOPD, the woman was sitting under her carport when a vehicle pulled up, fired shots at her, and drove off. The woman’s condition was not released.

No further details are available at this time, but the NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
