Second line parade represents 33 different countries at International School of Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Students and staff at the International School of Louisiana are second lining to celebrate cultural diversity.

It’s the annual International School’s parade commemorating the culmination of year-long studies of cultures and languages across 33 countries.

Students dressed in traditional attire to represent various countries’ flags.

Principal of the International School of Louisiana Laura Adelman-Cannon said, “We want all of our children to have access to a world-class education where they can not only learn about other cultures but speak the language. Our children here are speaking French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, which gives them access to culture, music, access to food, and you can’t do that without language.”

At the International School of Louisiana, of the 200 staff members, 33 are from different countries and speak 27 different languages.
