NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It has been a busy day prepping for the big fireworks show for the “Happy 3rd of July” celebration in City Park.
The rain delayed the 10-hour set up of fireworks in City Park, but this party in the U.S.A. must go on. Once the rain cleared, the efforts began.
“The fireworks will be set up directly behind me on top of the Peristyle with a 250 feet safety radius, all the way around us,” Brandon Spear with J&M Displays said.
Spear said they set up the fireworks about a foot apart from each other on top of the Peristyle.
“They’ll be some various red, white, and blue fireworks, pretty much all the colors of the rainbow,” he said.
Using the latest technology, several thousand fireworks will blast off 250 feet in the air for a 10-minute period across from The Great Lawn.
“I start all this process with 3D rendering on my computer. I design the entire show with 3D rendering software. I know what the entire show will look like from start to finish when we start firing it,” Spear said.
Although the prepping is a lot of hard work, this is a family tradition for him.
“All the hard work and preparation is worth it when you hear the roar and applause, that’s what makes it special for me,” he said.
J&M Displays goes to great heights to put on a great party.
In addition to tonight’s show in City Park, they also put on the fireworks shows for Uncle Sam Jam and Go Fourth On The River.
The fireworks begin at 9 p.m. in City Park.
