NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department has identified the suspect’s vehicle that’s allegedly responsible for the fatal hit-and-run of a man in the Desire neighborhood in February.
According to the NOPD, the crash happened on Thursday, Feb. 29 at the intersection of Alvar and Abundance streets. The victim was walking his bike when a vehicle, described as a Kia Optima, hit him. NOPD officers said the vehicle dragged the man for several feet.
The driver did not stop to offer help, according to police. The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The car is expected to have front-end damage and a missing fog light.
