NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a fire that damaged three homes in the Carrollton neighborhood on Thursday, March 28.
The NOFD reported crews responded to a home in the 7800 block of Hickory Street around 11:02 a.m. after receiving a report of a fire.
Upon arrival, crews said they found a duplex with fire coming from the right side that had begun spreading to the outside wall of a wood-framed double to the right of the home.
NOFD officials said sixteen fire trucks with 47 firefighters were used to put out the fire in about 45 minutes.
They said the duplex where the fire had started was severely damaged, and the double where the fire had spread suffered significant damage. Another home to the left of the duplex also experienced damage from the heat of the fire.
According to the NOFD, the homeowner stated she had briefly left the home to run errands and came back to see smoke when she went back inside.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
