NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — WGNO’s Travel Girl, Stephanie Oswald, loves going to festivals.
Here are her top 10 items to bring to your favorite festival:
- Hat — Our finicky weather demands a hat! Keep a few on hand to choose from as needed: sun hat, rain hat, ball cap or visor.
- Water spritzer — When the heat is on, give your face a break with a cool mist.
- Cheap binoculars — No matter the fest, there’s always a chance you’ll want a closer look at the show, or the crowd.
- Sharpie or black marker — This is key for parents: Write your name and phone number on your child’s arm in case you get separated in the crowd.
- Portable charger — Some fests have charging stations but do yourself a favor — avoid the long lines and bring your own.
- ID — Make a copy of your ID and bring it with you, just in case.
- Fan/Hand warmers — Our seasons seem to change constantly, and sometimes we get two in one day! Be prepared with these easy ways to stay comfortable, whether it’s steamy out or shiver-worthy.
- Hand sanitizer/wipes — These are essential for too many reasons to count.
- Reusable water bottle — Staying hydrated is critical for festival success, especially if it’s hot outside or if you’re also partaking in alcoholic beverages. Keep your water bottle filled once you get inside the event and help the environment by using one that will last.
- Body glitter — Because everything is better with a little sparkle added. Get ideas online on how to decorate your face — and mix it up with different colors to match each event. (Example: Pink for breast cancer awareness, purple/green/gold for Mardi Gras.)
What is your favorite item to bring to a Louisiana festival? Happy Festing!
