REPORT: Cedric Richmond expected to leave White House

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— On Monday, news about former Louisiana Congressman Cedric Richmond was announced on Twitter.

New York Times political reporter Jonathan Martin announced that Richmond is expected to leave the White House next month.

Here is what Martin reported:

News: @CedricRichmond is expected to leave the White House next month, making him one of first close Biden advisers to leave. He’ll enter the private sector but also likely be a consultant to @DNC, which has not forged close ties to the White House

White House Regional Communications Director Dhara Nayyar later confirmed the news, saying Richmond will join the DNC as a senior advisor ahead of the midterm elections.

Richmond issued a statement following the announcement, stating:

“I am thrilled that the President has entrusted me with helping boost the robust work already being done at the DNC to make sure that Democrats grow their majorities in the House and Senate, and increase the number of Democratic governors in state capitals around the country. The President and Chair Harrison are working hand-in-hand to build a strong Democratic Party and deliver our message to the American people and supporting Democrats, and I look forward to working in partnership with Jaime and the talented and hard-working crew at the DNC to amplify the White House’s message as we head toward the midterms.”
