ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Officials with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced that the Louisiana 47 Chalmette Paris Road Bridge will be closed until further notice.
The DOTD reported that the bridge was closed on Monday, March 25, after structural deficiencies causing unsafe driving conditions were found during an inspection.
DOTD officials said the closure impacts the LA 47 Chalmette Paris Road Bridge at the Chalmette Ferry, not the Louisiana 47 Paris Road “Green Bridge.”
St. Bernard Parish Government leaders said crews are working to assess the damage.
New Orleans Regional Transit Authority leaders said the Chalmette Ferry will also be closed until further notice due to the bridge closure.
