Luling special education teacher wants to win ‘America’s Favorite Teacher’ award

LULING, La. (WGNO) — A special education teacher from Luling is vying for the Reader’s Digest title of “America’s Favorite Teacher,” and she’s hoping you’ll vote for her.

Teachers are the unsung heroes who instill a love for learning, cultivate critical thinking skills, and nurture the potential of each student. Their dedication goes far beyond the classroom, influencing the character and values of the next generation. America’s Favorite Teacher reveres these mentors for holding the key to unlocking the full potential of individuals, and creating leaders who will foster a brighter future for all.

Logan Dicharry works at RJ Vial Elementary School. “Building a relationship with each child is essential to help foster their learning. I create an inclusive and safe environment for everyone,” she said in her submission to Reader’s Digest.

The winner of the “America’s Favorite Teacher” award will receive $25,000, a trip to Hawaii and be featured in the publication.

Dicharry wrote in her submission that with the award money, she would continue her education and work toward a master’s degree.

Vote for Dicharry online, while also supporting Teach for America. The first round of voting ends on Thursday, April 4.
