St. Charles Parish deputies investigating inmate death

ST. CHARLES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Deputies with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of an inmate on Thursday, April 4.

The sheriff’s office reported that 37-year-old Brandy Harris was booked into the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on a hit-and-run charge.

On Thursday, April 4, St. Charles Parish deputies said Harris was found unresponsive during a security check around 5:38 a.m.

They said CPR was given until EMS arrived, who later pronounced her dead after continuing treatment.

The investigation is ongoing, and an autopsy is pending.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office did not release any additional information.
