ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office had a trick up its sleeve this April Fools’ Day.

In a social media post, the STPSO introduced the community to the newest member of the STPSO Dive Team, “deputy” Ollie the Otter.

According to the post, Ollie is a 3-year-old otter and trained to detect firearms underwater.

“Otters are known to have an impeccable sense of smell under water, and with her smaller size, she will have the ability to get into smaller and tighter spaces to effectively assist her fellow members of the dive team,” the post read.

However, it was then revealed that Ollie is not, in fact, joining the STPSO and was actually hanging out and swimming with deputies at a Zoo 2 U event.

In the post’s hashtags, it was revealed that the post was an April Fools’ Day joke.
