Suspect killed in Lafayette Parish officer-involved shooting

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Louisiana State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Lafayette Parish.

Authorities say on Wednesday evening, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputies were trying to apprehend the suspect, Tony Pollard. Authorities say he was wanted for a series of violent crimes committed over the last several days.

Authorities say when attempting to serve an arrest warrant for Armed Robbery, Pollard refused to comply with multiple verbal commands given by deputies. Authorities say the suspect then moved in a threatening manner which resulted in the deputies responding with deadly force.

Authorities say Pollard was wanted for Armed Robbery stemming from an incident on July 4, in which two firearms were stolen and was also named as a suspect in at least two other cases involving firearms offenses which took place since then.
