HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — The mother and daughter from Loranger, who were killed last week, have been laid to rest.

Family and friends of 35-year-old Callie 3-year-old and Erin Brunett packed the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Thursday, June 20.

The Brunett family, for now, is grieving privately, and those who attended the funeral were filled with grief, sadness and even anger.

The procession left the funeral home around 2:30 p.m. after an hour-long service. Visitation was from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The obituaries describe Callie as a country girl who loved her family, but her favorite role was “mom.”

Erin was described as sweet, full of life and a little girl who loved her sister.

Their deaths are not only impacting a family but also a community.

“That’s a shame,” said Kenny Miller, who lives near the family. “You have little kids, and before you know it, you get one taken away from you. That’s a shame.”

It’s unclear at this time if 6-year-old Jalie Brunett, who survived the kidnapping, attended the funeral or is still recovering at a Jackson hospital.
