HOUMA, La. (WGNO) — Houma police officers responded to a service call that they said wasn’t routine for them.
On Sunday, May 26, Houma Police Department Officer Donald Aubrey responded to a call of a “very large snake” in a home’s backyard.
In a post on social media, officers said that with skill and care, Aubrey safely detained the python, causing it no harm.
Officers said they suspect the snake possibly escaped containment from its owner. The python is now in the custody of Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries for a scientific study.
