UPDATE 6/10/2022 — On June 10, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook that Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet was made aware of a Facebook posting completed by the Thibodaux Police Department and Chief Bryan Zeringue, concerning an investigation of a disturbance that occurred at a local Terrebonne business.
Sheriff Tim Soignet confirmed on social media that warrants have been filed for a Thibodaux man in connection with the investigation.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that around 10 a.m., Terrebonne Parish Deputies responded to a local business after receiving a report of a disturbance from workers at the business.
When police arrived, they learned the male making a disturbance left.
Deputies reported that they learned that a male entered the business very upset and made several racially driven comments to employees, as well as alleged threats of returning with a weapon.
Through the investigation, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to identify the male offender in question, and obtained warrants for his arrest, stemming from the investigation.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office has continued to work closely with the Thibodaux Police Department, which is assisting in trying to locate the offender.
This is an active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO) — On June 9, the Thibodaux Police announced that extra security measures will be in place at a Walmart in Thibodaux due to a possible threat circulating on social media.
According to a Facebook post, made by the Thibodaux Police, Chief Bryan Zeringue addressed a social media post that gave hints that a subject, at Walmart in Thibodaux had made threats to shoot African Americans inside the store.
Police reported that an incident did occur earlier this week at the Neighborhood Walmart located in Terrebonne Parish (South City Limits).
According to police, the incident is still under investigation.
Precautionary measures at the Thibodaux Walmart Superstore located inside the City Limits of Thibodaux at 410 North Canal Boulevard are being taken.
T.P.D. has conducted off-duty security services while T.P.S.O.’s investigation was underway at the Neighborhood Walmart.
Any extra police presence seen at this location is strictly for preventative reasons stated the Thibodaux Police Department.

Chief Zeringue asks our community partners to please refrain from posting information to social media unless it comes from a creditable law enforcement site. False information can easily be added to an actual incident or misconstrued when re-written / shared from someone who “heard” something.“
