NEW ORLEANS(WGNO)– Salu’s executive chef Dustin Brien has been creating authentic German dishes with his own twist for 3 years now in honor of Oktoberfest.

In the motherland, Oktoberfest runs a month long to celebrate harvest. Rivertown does it’s own celebration beginning the weekend of October 9th. But if you want to get your hands on the taste of Munich early, Salu has 5 menu items through October 4th paired with German beer specials  that pair with each menu item.

The menu consists of Kartoffelsuppe (beer and potato soup), Flammkuchen, or German Flatbread, Brats and Pretz, and Schweinbraten und Knodel, which is roasted pork shoulder with potato dumplings and brussel sprouts. And finally Zwetschgenkuchen, a purple plum cheesecake, a take on Germany’s famous plum cake.

The items are featured A la Carte or 4 for $45.
