MANDEVILLE, La. (WGNO) – An NOPD recruit in training was arrested Wednesday for reportedly breaking into a salon in Mandeville.

According to Mandeville Police, officers responded about 8 a.m. Wednesday morning to a burglary at Bella Salon on East Causeway Approach.

The suspect used an employee’s building access card to go through the back door and steal a cash box that contained an undisclosed amount of money.

Police arrested 21-year-old Jacob Dye of Mandeville in connection with the theft. Investigators said Dye stole the access card from a relative.

Dye was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on one count of simple burglary of a business.

According to NOPD, Dye is a recruit who’s in field training. He’s been suspended without pay.
