Sheriff’s Office: Woman gets fired, works anyway, gets arrested

Dariyan Octave was arrested June 17 on one count of impersonating a peace officer and one count of criminal trespass.

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)–The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a former recruit on a charge of impersonating a peace officer.

Dariyan Octave was a recruit up until she was fired on May 28, according to a news release.  OPSO said that Octave was “terminated for cause” during her probationary period.

But on Tuesday, Octave allegedly wore a sheriff’s office uniform and worked a shift at the Conchetta facility on Tulane Avenue.  It wasn’t until later that a staffing review uncovered Octave’s deception, investigators say.

Conchetta was arrested and has also been charged with criminal trespass.
