NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The crime-fighting man in black is the inspiration for a new network show.

A spokeswoman for New Orleans businessman Sidney Torres IV said in a news release that a new Fox series called “APB” is loosely based on Torres’ crime patrol in the French Quarter.

“APB” is the story of a billionaire who buys an entire police precinct in Chicago after a loved one is murdered.

Torres started a private French Quarter police patrol with customized vehicles and a crime-fighting smart phone app after his home was burglarized on Esplanade Avenue.

The new Fox series is set to debut in February 2017.
