ST. JAMES PARISH; La (WGNO)– St. James Parish officials paid tribute to local heroes and veterans at the 15th Annual Veterans Day Celebration Nov. 13th at Lutcher Recreational Park.

The two hour event welcomed Parish President Timmy Roussel, 150 veterans, and guest speaker is Ray Bass, who serves as the state commander for the Department of Louisiana Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Local businesses and industries provided food, and attendees were entertained by performances from All 4 Family, local dance teams and choirs and a spectacular fireworks display.

Nearly 400 people attended the celebration Sunday “It makes me feel proud to see all the people that are showing up here to celebrate it,” said U.S Navy Veteran Harold Miller. “It brings back memories of war. That’s why we read the names of the people who gave it all, they gave their lives for this country so that we could have the freedoms that we have today.”
