METAIRIE – State police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that claimed the life of one man.

Investigators say the crash happened shortly before 3 A.M. on I-10 West at Causeway Boulevard.

The victim, 37-year-old Noel Reese, of Laplace,  was driving a Dodge Challenger, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle struck a concrete barrier.

The stalled Challenger was sideways, taking up several lanes.

A second crash happened when a GMC Yukon, driven by 39-year-old Roland Parquette Jr. of Garyville, LA,  struck the Dodge on its left side.

Reese was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The passenger in the Dodge, 36-year-old Jacob Jones sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Parquette was also taken to a local hospital for moderate injuries.

Impairment is unknown at this time and a toxicology test will be performed during the autopsy.  The crash remains under investigation.

All lanes on I-10 West are open.
