HOUMA, La – Sugarcane farmer Mark Naquin says, “we were blessed.”

From the front seat of his Chevy pickup, he surveys the damage to his 700 acres.
Hurricane Laura knocked down half his crop.
But WGNO’s Bill Wood says the farmer will be able to salvage and harvest.
Tropical storm season can be bitter.
But in the end, the sugarcane turns out to be a sweet success.
