NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Hurricane Matthew is causing a lot of trouble for travelers across the country and at Louis Armstrong International Airport.
According to flightaware.com more than 2,000 flights were canceled Friday across the country. Roughly 4,500 flights have been canceled since Wednesday.
At MSY, several flights to Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa have been canceled. Some flights to Florida are getting out though.
We spoke with a couple travelers about what they’re going to do when they get down there.
“I’m actually here for a conference and I am trying to get back so I can check on my family and take care of my customers, a lot of high winds, a lot of rain,” said Rick Braun, who’s heading home to Tampa.
If you’re traveling, make sure you check with your airline about your flight, even if you aren’t traveling to the Southeast, because there has been a ripple effect due to the weather in Florida.
