Warm, dry Thursday! Storms Friday!

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Good Morning, New Orleans! Happy Thursday! It’s beginning to feel more like spring across the Gulf Coast as temperatures continue to increase.

Temperatures have stayed above normal overnight, with lows only dropping into the low to mid 60s. Highs will continue to warm up today, likely hitting the low 80s by the middle of Thursday afternoon. Similar temperatures are expected Friday.

Isolated showers are possible late Wednesday through Thursday with a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain Then, more widespread activity is in the forecast Friday and Friday night with rain chances up to around 60 to 70 percent.

Some spotty activity will be possible heading into Saturday before another round of heavier rain on Sunday.

Models have still be back and forth on where the heaviest rain will fall, but in general 1 to 3 inches of rain can be expected across the area with isolated totals of 3 to 4 inches possible. There is a low-end, Level 1 (out of 4) risk for flooding Friday through Sunday.

Once a front moves across the region by early Monday morning, lingering rain and moisture will clear out and temperatures will be slightly cooler. Expect high temperatures in the mid 60s Monday and Tuesday next week with overnight lows in the 40s and 50s.
