KENNER, La. (WGNO) — On Wednesday afternoon, July 3, the Kenner Police Department released security camera images of two women who are accused of stealing from a store and leading police on a chase that ended with a KPD cruiser crashing into Bayou St. John. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice.

The case began at 10:40 Tuesday night at the Walgreens at the corner of West Esplanade Avenue and Chateau Boulevard. Kenner police say they received a call from a store worker who claimed two women had stolen “a lot of merchandise.”

Police say they spotted the suspects’ car on Williams Boulevard as it headed toward Interstate 10. They say they tried to pull over the car, but it did not stop. A chase ensued that went from I-10 to the corner of Esplanade Avenue and Moss Street where a Kenner police officer crashed his SUV into Bayou St. John.

According to the KPD, the officer was unhurt, and the suspects got away.

Wednesday afternoon, police released two images of the suspects that were taken from the Walgreens security cameras. Police say the suspects stole two box fans and perhaps a purse full of store merchandise.
