NOPD searching for power tool packing burglars

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is searching for two burglars who are accused of breaking into a Mid-City business and using a power saw to steal money. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice.

According to police, the crime happened around 3:45 in the morning on Monday, Feb. 5 in the 5100 block of Canal Boulevard. The business is a gas station/convenience store with a deli attached to it.

Surveillance video shows two men with masks and gloves enter the business with a crowbar, extension cord and a hand-held power saw. Police say the pair smashed the front door and broke into a security room then used the saw to break into an ATM. They took some camera equipment, $200 dollars from a cash register and $1,000 from the ATM’s cash box.
