NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is trying to solve the theft of an ATM from a Gentilly convenience store. It’s the second ATM theft from the same business in a matter of weeks. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice.
The first theft occurred in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve. A team of thieves smashed the door glass of the business, tied a chain around the ATM, then ripped it from its anchors and stole it.
The business replaced the glass and moved the ATM to an outdoor location. The second theft occurred about three weeks later on Jan. 12 around 12:45 in the morning. In this case, the thieves used a drill and other tools to defeat the locks on the machine and steal the cash box from inside of it with about $1,700 inside.
At this point, there’s no indication from police that the cases are related. But the suspects in the Christmas Eve case may be responsible for another, similar heist just days earlier.

If you have information that could help police identify or locate the suspects in either case, call Crimestoppers at (504)-822-1111. Remember, you don’t have to reveal your name or testify in court, and you could be eligible to earn a cash reward.
So far, more than 460 people have landed behind bars after their cases rolled on the Wheel of Justice.
