PONCHATOULA, La. — Ponchatoula’s Allen Graves solidified his spot as the best the state has to offer in the class of 2024 by winning the 2023-24 Gatorade Louisiana Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

He is the first Ponchatoula student-athlete to receive the honor.

The 6’10, Santa Clara signee averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds his senior season and powered the Ponchatoula boy’s basketball prorgam to a 30-4 finish and second straight Division I Non-Select state championship.

Graves recorded a 19-point, 20-rebound double-double in their 75-60 win over Natchitoches Central in the final game of his high school career.

He was named Most Outstanding Player for the second year in a row.

Allen Graves will leave Ponchatoula after an exceptional career that saw nearly 1,500 career points on the court and a 3.74 GPA in the classroom.

He follows other local products who have won Gatorade Player of the Year honors like Newman’s Chris Lockett and Carver’s Solomon Washington.
