BOUTTE, La. (WGNO) — Hahnville High School Principal Jose Gonzales has selected Greg Boyne as the school’s new head football coach as announced on Monday, January 29. Boyne was unanimously recommended by a diverse committee of internal and external stakeholders after two rounds of interviews with candidates from throughout the state and Texas.

A product of the school system, Boyne graduated from Hahnville High School in 1990 and earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Nicholls State University in 1997. “I am honored and excited to come back home to my alma mater. I look forward to working with the talented student-athletes at Hahnville High School and helping them reach their full potential, both as football players and as individuals,” said Boyne.

Boyne is currently a teacher and the Football Offensive Coordinator at Destrehan High School, a position he has held for the past 12 seasons. Now in his 27th year of teaching, Boyne brings an extensive background in coaching and a proven track record of success to the program. “We are thrilled to welcome Coach Boyne to the Hahnville High School family. His leadership, passion for the game, and commitment to fostering a positive team culture make him the ideal candidate to lead our football program,” said Hahnville Principal Jose Gonzales.

Boyne resides in St. Charles Parish with his wife Shannon and three children – two graduates and one current student of St. Charles Parish Public Schools. Both high schools and Boyne will collaborate to determine a timeline for the transition with Boyne expected to take over the team upon the return from the Mardi Gras Holiday.
