MINNESOTA (WGNO) — The Minnesota Lynx defeated the Chicago Sky, 70-62 Sunday afternoon but it did not stop Angel Reese, from making history.

The former LSU standout recorded her 10th double-double in a row with a 10-point, 16-rebound performance Sunday, breaking Candace Parker’s record for the most consecutive double-doubles in a WNBA season.

Reese was 4/16 (25%) from the field in the loss but achieved the milestone on a free throw attempt with 23 seconds left in regulation.

“Just proud of her, proud of what she does. I’m sure she’ll say the win was more important. So, she’s going to continue to do what she does. It’s who she is. She’s going to always come out and play hard, confident, and give you everything she has. She’s the hardest person on herself. So, proud of what she’s doing and what she will continue to do,” said Chicago Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon.

Angel Reese has 11 double-doubles so far this year, averaging 13.5 points and 11.1 rebounds through 17 games. The Chicago Sky are 6-11 on the year.

Reese will go for her 11th straight double-double Thursday night at 6 p.m. against the Atlanta Dream.
