NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) –

Chelsi McDonald: “Thanks, Bobby. That’s right. I’m joined with the man of the hour, Mr. J.T. Curtis. J.T., tell me. How does it feel to induced in the National Federation the High School Sports Hall of Fame?”

J.T. Curtis: “Well, obviously it’s a humbly experience. We got some great inductees here tonight. Guys that accomplished in our sports or performing arts or officiating. To see these men and women and recognize their accomplishments is really a humbling experience to you. In truth I’m sorry that all the athletes and all the coaches that have been a part of this all these years can’t be up there with me. Obviously getting dressed in a tuxedo and being honored by your state is humbling to you, but really that honor goes to so many people and without them I would not be here tonight. There’s no question about that.”

Chelsi: “Out of all of your accomplishments including 26 state titles, what are you most proud of?”

Curtis: “I think it’s relationship with the players and relationship with all those involved, and then again I know people think that trait, but truthfully the wins and loss are going to come and go. The relationships last forever. To watch young men become great fathers, to contribute to the community, to go into the ministry, to go into teaching or just be contributors in their communities is really what this is all about.”

Chelsi: “What kind of impact you hope to have on all of the students you used to coach?”

Curtis: “I hope that they’re better people come through the program. As i said physical things are temporary and spiritual things are eternal.”

Chelsi: “Thank you so much. Congratulations on being inducted National Federation High School Sports Hall of Fame.”

Curtis: “Let me make this just a quick side note if you don’t mind. I want to welcome you to the WGNO staff and tell you that you’re so much better looking than the guys sitting on that stage with me. Congratulations!”

Chelsi: “Thank you so much. Have a good rest of you night. Bobby?”
