NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Maybe someone should tape a yellow sticky note to Gov. Jeff Landry’s desk that reads: “Dear Governor, The Tiger football team is in the locker room when the National Anthem is played on the field. Sincerely, Kim.”

Until then, Landry’s post on “X,” blasting the Lady Tigers basketball team for not being on the court during the National Anthem, has gone viral.

From the New York Post – to the UK’s Daily Mail – Coach Kim Mulkey and her team are suffering the outrage of those fans who apparently don’t know that neither LSU’s men’s or women’s teams sing the anthem before a tip-off or kick-off.

“LSU fans fume over team’s national anthem no-show in Iowa loss, with angry supporters calling for them to ‘put your f***ing hand on your hearts,'” screamed the headline in the Daily Mail.

Fans “were left with a sour taste in their mouth,” said the more subdued New York Post.

But as LSU’s Assistant Athletic Director Cody Worsham told “Louisiana Illuminator“:

“Usually the anthem is played 12 minutes before the game when the team is in the locker room doing final preparations.”

WGNO Sports Director Ed Daniels concurred.

“The LSU football team is in the locker room for the anthem on Saturdays at Tiger Stadium,” said Daniels on WGNO News, “I haven’t heard one peep about it.”
