NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Delgado Community College’s pharmacy tech school has built a sterling reputation in the industry.

The program is currently two semesters and program director Anne LaVance said students are well prepared when their studies are complete.

“100% pass rate on our certification in the last class that came through, last 2 classes that came through. So we have great numbers. We prepare our students to not only go in the workforce, but all the requirements to meet the state board of pharmacy, we have had several students take jobs where they are licensed in other states as well,” says Delgado Community College Pharmacy Technician Program Director Anne LaVance

The program currently has 31 students and is headquartered at the brand-new Ochsner Center for Nursing and Allied Health.

Lavance, program director for 20 years, said there is always a demand for her graduates.

“The local employers, we have a great reputation. We get notified often, we are one of their first contacts. I have a message board for my alumni, so usually, it is employers calling ‘Why can’t you give me more people?,'” says LaVance.

Pharmacy tech, another reason why Delgado Community College is a step away from unstoppable.
