NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Newman entered February 16th on a seven-game win streak. The team’s most recent game was a 66-28 blowout victory over King Charter the day before, and the Greenies put on another offensive clinic versus Country Day with a district title on the line.
The Cajuns scored the first bucket, but Randy Livingston, Jr., took the top off the rim and began Newman’s offensive outing. The Greenies ended the first quarter up 19-11 and went into halftime with a 14-point lead.
Country Day cut the lead down to six, thanks to an 8-0 run to begin the second half. However, the Greenies turned defense into offense, fueling an 11-3 run to answer the Cajuns’ surge.
Newman pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure a 19-point victory and the District 10-2A title.
