BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President and General Manager Mickey Loomis announced on Friday, May 31, that they have signed rookie cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry to a four-year contract.
McKinstry was drafted by the Saints with the 41st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, according to a news release.
In three seasons at Alabama, McKinstry compiled 92 total tackles, two interceptions and 25 passes defended. He also served as the Crimson Tide’s primary punt returner during his time at Alabama, where he returned 35 punts for 418 yards, according to a news release.
During his final season at Alabama in 2023, McKinstry had 32 total tackles, seven passes defended and 14 punt returns for 86 yards.
For his performance on the field in 2023, McKinstry was named a first-team All-American and earned All-SEC selections, according to a news release. He was also named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award.
“The team’s entire seven-player draft class is now under contract,” said the Saints in a news release.
