Grambling, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Grambling State University announced Monday that Mickey Joseph will be the 15th head football coach.

The Louisiana native has ample experience coaching at the collegiate level.

Coach Joseph comes from the Nebraska Cornhuskers where he served as the wide receivers coach, associate head coach, and passing game coordinator before being named the interim head coach during the 2022 season.

“I’m passionate and I coach with a lot of emotion,” Coach Joseph said. “We’re going to play hard; we’re going to play till the echo of the whistle and we’re going to be passionate about how we do things.”

Joseph is focused on building a strong structure for the future of Tigers football, focusing heavily on in-state recruiting.

“We’re going to touch every high school in the state of Louisiana when it comes down to recruiting,” explained Coach Joseph. “I think the state of Louisiana is the best as far as high school football.”

Joseph takes over after former head coach Hue Jackson was let go as the Tigers’ head coach in late November.

Jackson led the Tigers for two years. He was let go after the Tigers lost to Southern in the 50th Annual Bayou Classic.

Assistant Head Coach John Simon acted as interim head coach until a replacement was found.
