NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – For any fan of Louisiana high school football, Hoss Memtsas is a name that you’ve heard before. Today, Ed Daniels will explain why.
Hoss Memtsas was an accomplished athlete, he graduated from Warren Easton High School in 1932. Later on Memtsas was inducted into Easton’s hall of fame, and was a member of a Tulane Green Wave team that beat Temple in the first Sugar Bowl game on January 1st, 1935.
To his daughters, he was nothing short of a great father. His youngest daughter, Michelle, still has fond memories of her father. Michelle says that Hoss loved life “Always wrestling on the sofa with him while he watched sports.” Hoss was also a fan of New Orleans food, Bozo’s and Mandina’s being two of his favorite spots in the city.
He loved fried foods and tough love.
