(WGNO) – It was homecoming at Country Day and junior running back Jase Griffin celebrated.
Griffin ran for 253 yards and 4 touchdowns — his other touchdown, right on the 80 yard kickoff return.
Griffin faked the handoff and kept it to open a win over Haynes.
He said he didn’t really know how many scores he had until he counted late in the game.
“Not really. At the end I kind of counted, but I really didn’t care about that as long as we won,” said Griffin.
Griffin plays both ways for the Cajuns. He said playing defense is a blessing, not a curse.
“Oh, it is really fun. It is different than most teams. You have a chance to go both ways. Most kids don’t get the chance to do that, so it is different. It is fun.”
Jase Griffin of Country Day is this week’s New Orleans Voodoo athlete of the week.
