METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) – High school football games will be played at Zephyr Field beginning this September. It’s the first time football games have ever been played on the field.

The New Orleans Catholic League and Zephyr Field struck the deal Thursday.

WGNO’s Ed Daniels reports that the Triple-A baseball stadium in Metairie will host eight high school football games beginning with Brother Martin vs. John Curtis on September 23. Six of the eight games will be Friday night. One will be Thursday and one on Saturday.

Typically, Catholic League schools were forced to play games on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Zephyr Field is expected to make an official announcement May 19th.

WGNO reported last year the football field would lay out down the left field line with the visitors’ bench on the second base side, and the home team on the third base side.
