HAMMOND, La. — No. 2 John Curtis defeated No. 3 Liberty, 58-47 in the Division I Select semi-finals Thursday at Southeastern Louisiana University’s Pride Roofing University Center.
The Lady Patriots forced 18 turnovers and held Liberty to 43% shooting. They also outrebounded a much taller Liberty team, 41-21.
Sophomore Chikae Desdunes finished with a game-high 24 points while junior Imani Daniel added 16 points in the win.
John Curtis won six state championships in a row from 2017-2022, but that streak was snapped last year in the Division I select final by Lafayette.
The Patriots return to the championship stage Saturday at noon against No. 5 Woodlawn.
